Is this course for me?
This online course includes the full Rask Value Investor Workshop material and curriculum. The Value Investor Workshop is designed for:
- Finance students – who want to ace an interview and ‘talk the talk’ (but also see how research is approached in the real world)
- Private investors – this program will round out the experience that comes with years of part-time investing
- Finance professionals – professional analysts and portfolio managers have taken this course to improve their skills and knowledge (your boss might even pay for it!)
- Career changers – this program assumes some knowledge but not much, offering a great insight for those transition to a finance or investment role
- Business owners, executives and managers – good businesses attract good investors and good business people know what makes a good investment opportunity. Therefore, the benefits from this program will be two-fold for business owners and managers
The concepts discussed in this program are of an ‘advanced’ level. However, most of the lessons and topics will be manageable and understandable for people who have been investing in some form for, say, 12 months or more.

Is the program online?
Yes. You can enrol, begin and finish the program right now.
How long does it take to complete the course?
It depends on your time, experience and energy but there is 10-12 hours of videos, spreadsheets and examples to work through, plus quizzes. Some people have completed it in just 3 days, others commit an hour each week for 2-3 months.
Can I download the materials?
Yes. All of the spreadsheets and slides are downloadable and can be used in Microsoft or Google Sheets/Drive format.
Are there any exams or tests?
There are no exams, “must-pass” tests, or trick questions. We have added short self-paced questions throughout the program but these are designed purely for you to test your own understanding. There are no pass or fail marks.

A really useful “nuts & bolts” course that delivers the basics of research, analysis and investing in the share market. I am a fairly advanced and experienced investor and while I gained some benefit and insights from the course, it would have been a huge advantage if I had access to this sort of learning program when I started out on my journey. I also suspect I would not have lost money in some of the poorer investment decisions I made – ironically two of the worst referenced in this course – SGH & RFG!! This course gives you all the foundation you need to attack investing in a smart and thoughtout manner. You get all the tools, advice and insights from someone who does it for a living so you have a fighting chance to avoid common traps. The course delivers it in a great plain english manner that everyday people with a interest in investing should be able to understand without alot of trouble. A great course for investors that are wanting to learn how to do it themselves if you just follow the herd. This goes through the fundamentals and what you need to look for in companies to avoid so many of the company traps people get caught out by. This course was a real benefit especially thinking about business moats and the language used in announcements. Having a very limited knowledge of investing, I found this course to be excellent in its content. The topics are well thought out and put into a format that I found easy to watch. Having limited experience, I found some of the jumping around in the Annual Reports and knowing how to get the right values for valuations to be a bit overwhelming. But I also understand that with more experience I will become more comfortable with this. Overall I found this to be an excellent resource that I’m sure that I will be referring back to multiple times.

I have been investing for some time but I never completed any structured course on investing. I am from the non-finance background so all I learned was from reading books and blogs. When I stumbled on Owen’s website I found his material interesting and worth reading. Comprehensive, engaging and easy to follow. Owen is very knowledgeable with the unusual talent of imparting his knowledge in a way that is easy to understand. The videos are relaxed and quizzes relevant but not too to challenging rather just confirming basics. There are quite a lot of assumptions with share valuation so it’s definitely not for everyone but by the end of this course you will either be inspired to jump in or realise share valuation is not for you. This course is a great starting point.
